About Us.

Who We Are

GHSRF is a powerful community of women and allies dedicated to achieving gender equality within our communities and in Somali land in general.

Our Story

Women in Somalia are disadvantaged due to social norms that restrict women to house chores and home management. This reduces their ability to exploit their talents and renders them to be too dependent on the male gender in their lives. GHSRF believes in a society where a woman is able to use skills learned to support their families and husbands.

This ensures equity and equality in the economically competitive world where women must participate in leadership and development. To us, empowering one woman is equivalent to empowering the whole community; the woman ensures her children and close one are empowered too.

Youth joblessness has also become the source of evil in Somalia. We want to be part of eradicating poverty and this can only be possible through empowering the jobless youth who have suffered several injustices in their growing times. The missed out on education opportunities due to civil war hence instability for any educational institution to run effectively

What makes us different?

GHSRF is a national non-profit, legally registered skills foundation whose mission is to play a role in the achievement of vision 2030

GHSRF focuses its activities on the empowerment of the vulnerable groups, especially the Somali women from poor backgrounds.  The foundation’s driving force is the NDP-9’S analysis of the poverty-security-related issues that is based on theory of change. GHSRF vision is shared through The United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (2021-2025) which represents the commitment of the Federal Government and the United Nations to work together to achieve peace, stability, and prosperity for all Somalis in support of the 2030 Agenda
